Overall, the DST appeared to be the most effective treatment group to reduce MRSA counts compare to wounds infected with PA09-010. These results may have significant clinical implications when treating patients with acute or chronic wounds. DST has been shown to remove debris and bacteria from the wound bed as well as having impact at the cellular and molecular components of factors that cause wounds to remain chronic.
