Description: The use of Decentralized Clinical Trials (DCT’s) has risen in recent years. The COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the surge in DCT use as the biotech industry sought ways to continue creating lifesaving treatments for patients when traditional trials were at risk of interruption. DCT’s have also allowed for more patient-centric processes in clinical trials, including at-home treatments and lab work, virtual appointments, and the use of digital health technology tools to remotely collect relevant patient data. This session will serve as an opportunity to share the BIO Decentralized Clinical Trial Infographic: What Clinical Trials Are Like Today, which is a tool created to educate patients and industry regulatory professionals on how clinical trials broadly use elements of DCT’s, today.
Learning Objectives:
Provide laymen-friendly educational materials to the audience regarding the use of DCT elements in clinical trials for their own, or their patients' education
Explain the relevance and advantages for patients and sponsors who conduct and participate in DCT’s
Share the ways in which patients can participate in clinical trials which utilize DCT elements and better understand the regulatory challenges and opportunities
