Let’s start with a riddle: You have 5 potatoes and have to divide them equally between 3 people, what should you do? You mash them first.
Now let’s look at some real-life conundrums: Its summer 2022, you’ve got entry level job openings, and the inflation rate just hit 9%. How much are you going to pay these entry level workers? How much of a raise should you provide and when? Join this session to investigate these real-world compensation conundrums for the building performance industry. Patch Garcia, Director of People Operations at Eco Performance Builders, will walk us through best practices in what goes into calculating compensation, how to calculate Market Rate compensation for your region and the resources that will help you stay competitive in order to retain your most indispensable employees. You’ll also hear from Geoff Wilcox, Vermont’s Weatherization Program Director, who used data from the NASCSP Wage Survey to plan and implement a $20 an hour Minimum Wage for crew workers in their network in order to help with recruitment and retention.
By attending this session, attendees will:
Hear about strategies to compensate employees- both on the weatherization and for-profit home performance side.
Learn about the NASCSP wage tool and how to calculate starting pay for your area
Discuss employee retention methods, creating a culture of happy workers and the flip-side when to cut ties and let poor performing workers go.
