Disasters such as wildfires, floods, and severe winds can and do strike with what appears to be at an increasing rate lately. In this session, our group of presenters will look at what is available in terms of resources for disaster resistance that can be helpful to any rebuild, remodel, or retrofit after one of these events. We'll then look at case studies and best practices from programs that have worked in this sector, wrapping up with a look at utility programs that have supported rebuilds and remodels with incentives, technical support, and partnerships with manufacturers.
By attending this session, attendees will:
Be able to find Disaster Resistance resources on the Building America Solution Center and other online repositories
Be able to discuss measures for homes that find overlap between energy efficiency, disaster resilience, indoor air quality, safety, and general durability
Describe how utility programs can provide incentives and support for homes hurt by disasters
