Humidity is a big challenge in many areas of the country, and climate models suggest that summers will become even wetter in the future, especially in the southeast. Many existing homes already struggle with humidity challenges, which then lead to mold and other indoor air quality concerns. How will the changing climate affect the health of our homes? This presentation highlights case studies from middle Tennessee to describe the complex nature of indoor humidity and air quality challenges. Then, the presenters share a comprehensive approach to identifying the root cause of concerns and provide a whole-home solution that offers improved moisture control and a healthier, more sustainable home. The presenters will touch on topics related to the building envelope, ventilation, and HVAC, with a special emphasis on dehumidification systems, and will describe a process for integrating these systems into a cohesive design.
