Tuesday, February 22, 2022
10:15 AM – 11:15 AM CT
Location: Daniel Burnham
In the spring of 2021, Delaware Valley Friends School formed a committee to review the school's hiring process through the lens of diversity, equity, inclusion and justice. This process led the school to adopt a new hiring software platform called Applied that anonymizes applications, leverages a skills-based methodology, and builds transparency and analytics into every step of the hiring process. Learn about the current research on bias in hiring, see how the software implements that research to minimize bias, and hear about the school's experience reducing bias in its hiring practices, including early successes and challenges.
Participants will learn strategies and best practices for reducing bias in the hiring process based on current research and some of the benefits and challenges of implementing these practices in an independent school.
