Advanced Learning Services Psychologist
Wake County Public School System, North Carolina
Chris Rice, MA, CAS, is the Advanced Learning Services Psychologist for the Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) in the Raleigh, NC area. He is in his 8th year as a school psychologist having worked with students aged 3-21. Mr. Rice is also working towards his PhD in Special Education (with an emphasis on gifted education) at the University of Northern Colorado. His professional and research interests include: using data to make equitable identification and service delivery decisions for gifted students; advanced learning/gifted education through MTSS; identifying and supporting 2e learners; and building the capacity of student support specialists (e.g., school psychologists, counselors, etc.) in supporting the gifted students in their buildings. All of Mr. Rice's work centers around the notion that demographic data should not preclude students from getting a high quality education and the supports they need!
