Gifted Education Consultant, Indiana
Virginia H. Burney, Ph.D. recently retired from the Educational Psychology faculty at Ball State University and is currently working as a consultant to school districts in the area of high ability education. She has worked K-12 as a principal, school counselor, guidance director, math teacher, and school board member. Ginny is a past president of the Indiana Association for the Gifted, served 5 years on the Board of the National Association for Gifted Children, and is a past recipient of the NAGC David A. Belin Advocacy Award. She and her husband are the parents of three gifted children, now adults.
Ginny frequently works with Kristie Speirs Neumeister to provide professional development and evaluate gifted programs throughout Indiana and the U.S. They present frequently at state and national meetings. They published An Introduction to Gifted Education: The Complete Kit for Facilitators, Coordinators, and In-Service Training Professionals with Prufrock Press in 2011 and Gifted Program Evaluation: A Handbook for Administrators and Coordinators (Second Edition) Co-published with NAGC, Prufrock Press, 2019.
