Short description: What do you do when you don’t know what to do? Frustrating conundrums are typical for Twice-Exceptional (2e) & ELL students. Using the tools of improvisation and unplanned spontaneous actions help students deal with unpredictable situations. Improv, often comedy, can also be used to deal with stress and anxiety. Participants engage in collaborative “play” and are offered ready-to-use ideas for the classroom.
Learning Outcomes: Participants will:
Receive a brief history of the use of improvisation in assisting ELL students in developing literacy and language skills
Learn how to apply the strategies of improvisation to encourage 2e and gifted ELL students to develop social awareness, flexibility, and increased language and literacy development
Join in improv activities to understand the positive impact this form of creative expression can have on 2e and gifted ELL students
