Short Description: There would be no issues about the alleged teaching of CRT (Critical Race Theory) in schools if we focused more on RCT: Raising Critical Thinkers! This session offers concrete protections to gifted equity initiatives by grounding them in critical thinking, NAGC standards, and district strategic plans.
Learning Outcomes: Participants will:
Explain the importance of critical thinking in equity work
Leave with three concrete strategies to boldly pursue equity efforts without fear of backlash and discuss controversial topics in the classroom without inviting controversy
Consider ways to counter opposition by considering multiple perspectives
