Short description: When we seek diversity in gifted cohorts, we introduce cultural complexity. When we use technology to connect to global populations, we engage significant differences to create meaning. But these capacities do not come naturally! Students must be trained to interact across cultural distances by recognizing their own positionality. Come participate in strategies that help with those difficult, but transformative, discussions.
Learning Outcomes: Participants will:
Gain 5-6 immediately-usable strategies for developing self-awareness and receptivity in students
Engage in a discussion on the role of culture, both personal and institutional, in the classroom
