Short description: Spatial thinking skills are essential to many STEM professions. However, some students’ spatial skills are underdeveloped while other students have spatial strengths but struggle more in the classroom. This session uses hands-on activities to explore the domain of spatial thinking, discussing ways to identify and develop these skills for success in STEM.
Learning Outcomes: Participants will:
Be able to recognize evidence of spatial thinking in their students
Be able to identify alignments between spatial thinking and their curriculum or standards
Be able to engage their students’ spatial thinking skills in the classroom
