Short description: The researcher used Durkheim’s structural functionalist theory to analyze Black and Brown underrepresentation in gifted education. Then, the researcher introduced Dabrowski’s Theory of Positive Disintegration as a second lens regarding how gifted Black and Brown students develop or fail to develop within the overarching structures and systems of public school more specifically.

Learn about micro-level practices that contribute to the continued underrepresentation of Black and Brown students
Get recommendations for ways to move the needle forward for some of our most vulnerable and most deserving students
