Short description: Using real-world engineering problems within STEM topics offers young gifted children opportunities to design solutions to these problems. This session discusses the engineering process and how to use it to allow young gifted children to be problem solvers. Presenters share videos of K-2 gifted classroom learning experiences that demonstrate these processes and provide a template for creating similar activities.
Learning Outcomes: Participants will:
Understand the engineering process as it relates to young gifted children
View and examine video exemplars of engineering lessons for young gifted children
Understand how to create similar lessons in their own class using a template provided by the presenters
