Ann Makikalli is a Teaching Assistant Professor at the University of Denver (DU), Colorado, USA. She joined DU in 2010 teaching international students in the Intensive English Program. In her current role in Internationalization, she teaches English to international students and a Freshman Seminar on the Nordic countries to both American and International students. Additionally, she serves on the Faculty Senate. Prior to joining DU, Ann was a tenure-track lecturer in the English Translation and Interpretation Department at the University of Turku, Finland. She also taught at St. Mary’s College in Nagoya, Japan. Her publications include two textbooks published in Finland: Small Talk (2001) and Professional Writing (1996). A passionate traveler, Ann has traveled to more than 30 countries – and lived in the US, Finland, France, and Japan.
