Mariel Shilling is the Assistant of Institutional Partnerships and Admissions at The Washington Center. A strong believer in the value of experiential learning, Mariel feels that all students deserve the opportunity to study away, live or work in a new place.
Mariel holds a bachelor’s degree in International Studies and Spanish from Washington College. While at Washington College, Mariel studied and volunteered abroad in Peru, Honduras, Thailand and Turkey. Prior to working at The Washington Center, Mariel worked at various non-profits, as a teaching assistant in Tanzania and Spain, and at The Center for English and Additional Languages at Lingnan University in Hong Kong. Prior to joining The Washington Center in 2019, Mariel worked at ISEP study abroad supporting her team in digital and in-person student outreach and recruitment.
At The Washington Center, Mariel leads a team responsible for managing half of TWC's institutional partnerships and admissions functions. She works directly with institutional partners, as well as the marketing and communications team, to optimize recruiting strategies and ensure students are supported.
