Dr. Marsha A. Butler is a professor/department chair at Valencia College within her role over the last 10 years; she became certified as a study abroad program leader and service-learning mentor. Marsha developed a passion for service to the community as a graduate student, learning about the importance of providing students with a well-rounded education both inside and outside the classroom by connecting curriculum and service-learning. She has been instrumental in increasing the number of service-learning opportunities at Valencia College and became the first to offer international service-learning study abroad opportunities in Peru, focusing on social entrepreneurship. Since this time, she has created other unique ISL experiences for students such as the ISL Greece trip with a focus on Ocean Conservation and Sea Turtle Preservation. This trip allowed students to connect to an issue that affects their local and global communities. Marsha has a doctorate in Organizational Leadership and a master's degree in Human Resources Development.
