Bruno Castro is an Erasmus+ Policy Officer in the European Commission’s Directorate General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture. He is responsible for academic cooperation with the Americas and is a Member of the Advisory Committee for Fulbright-Schuman. He joined the International Cooperation unit in 2017 with the Latin American portfolio, and has been since in charge of the management of two different Erasmus+ actions: the international credit mobility and Erasmus Mundus.
Prior to that, Bruno specialised in the political aspects of Latin American affairs, having worked in diplomatic positions in Belgium and Venezuela. He also has a background in research and innovation projects at the European Commission, within the Horizon2020 EU framework programme, working with the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions and the SME-Instrument. Bruno’s first job was teaching Spanish in a French high-school.
Bruno completed 3 different degrees in Spain, on Philosophy, Political Science and Cultural Anthropology. He started doctoral studies on Sociology and holds a MA in European Political and Administrative studies by the College of Europe.
