Katherine Hammett
Kathy Hammett has more than 30 years of experience in U.S. higher education. She began her career in Student Affairs and quickly focused on international education. During the first part of her career, Kathy focused on international student services, at Louisiana Tech and Xavier Universities, providing support and guidance for students from other countries. During that time she built a highly respected office of international student services and became involved in NAFSA: Association of International Educators, serving in a number of regional and national positions. In 2007, Kathy became Director of International Education at Carroll University, focusing on building a comprehensive office of international education. She currently serves as Senior Director of the Center for Global Engagement at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. Kathy received an International Education Administrators Fulbright to Japan in 2000. In 2007, she was selected to travel to Myanmar and Thailand as part of the U.S. Department of State Advisor’s Professional Partnership Program. She received Region VI's Leo R. Dowling Award of Excellence for Compassion, Integrity, and Leadership. Kathy has mentored a number of individuals who have entered the field of education and believes strongly in the power of education and engagement across cultures. She has a B.A. in International Studies and an M.S. in College Student Personnel Services, both from Miami University, Ohio. She served as chair of NAFSA 2020 Annual Conference and currently is a member of the NAFSA International Education Professional Competencies Commission.
