Dr Natalie Shenker is a UKRI Future Leaders Fellow at Imperial College London, where she is developing a programme of research into the public health impacts of human milk banking. She is the cofounder of the Human Milk Foundation, which operates the Hearts Milk Bank, the UK’s first non-profit, independent human milk bank. The HMF aims to facilitate research to fill evidence gaps in the sector while broadening availability of assured donor human milk. Previously she trained in medicine and worked as a surgeon, before becoming fascinated with human milk biology and developmental implications of infant feeding during her PhD.
