Abstract: In the process of breastfeeding, some mothers choose to interrupt breastfeeding because of breast problems, milk supply problems, work reasons, external reasons, etc., which is what we usually call weaning. Weaning can be divided into two types: normal weaning and abnormal weaning. Natural weaning and gradual weaning are normal weaning, and sudden weaning is abnormal weaning. At present, individuals have found in practice that if they want to wean quickly, most people will choose drug-assisted weaning and cliff weaning. Drug-assisted weaning is to reduce milk secretion by taking drugs. During the period of medication, the removed milk can no longer be fed to the baby, and the mother's body will also experience different degrees of drug side effects. Sudden weaning is the immediate cessation of breastfeeding without the removal of milk. This approach will not only cause problems with the mother's breasts, such as blocked ducts, mastitis, and shriveled breasts, but may also affect the mother-infant relationship. During the weaning consultation, the lactation consultant should advise the mother to adopt the normal weaning method, formulate a personalized and scientific weaning plan according to the mother's current situation, and assist the mother to implement it until the weaning is successful.
