Pratik "Tik" Patel is a 2nd-year pediatric ID fellow at Emory University and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, with completion of his fellowship scheduled for July 2023. He has also completed a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Emory prior to starting his infectious disease fellowship. He received his MD degree from the University of Virginia and his pediatric residency training at UT Southwestern and Children's Health in Dallas. He wishes to leverage his dual-fellowship training to advance the infectious disease care of immunocompromised children with a focus on those children undergoing treatment of cancer and hematopoietic cellular therapies. His research interests are in the epidemiology of infections and antimicrobial stewardship in the immunocompromised host and the introduction and implementation of novel molecular ID diagnostics to improve stewardship and clinical care.
