Alyssa Maclean earned her bachelor's degree in biology from Colorado State University in 2015. After graduation, she went to work with Dr. Eric Campbell studying colonic goblet cell glycosylation at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She started the MD/PhD program at Creighton University in 2016 and works with Dr. Nancy Hanson studying beta-lactam resistance in gram negative bacterial pathogens. Her research focuses on the interplay between beta-lactamase production and outer membrane permeability in Klebsiella pneumoniae. She anticipates graduating the dual degree program in 2024.
