Dr. Dawn Fishbein is an Infectious Diseases physician and clinical research investigator, and is currently employed by MedStar Health Research Institute and MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. Her professional focus and passion in is in the field of viral hepatitis, specifically hepatitis C. She has been in the field long enough to witness the miraculous advancement in treating patients with this disease, being able to offer patients a cure – however now the bar is set for HCV elimination.
She is the Scientific Director for Viral Hepatitis Research for MedStar Health Research Institute (MHRI) and Associate Chair for Research in the MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC) Department of Medicine. In addition, she serves as the Medical Director for the Hub Liaison Team core for the NIH-funded Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Science Award (GHUCCTS CTSA). She comes to this role, having joined the faculty of MWHC in 2012, creating a program for Testing and Linkage to Care and Treatment for persons with Hepatitis C viral infection. Before that she worked for NIH in creating a clinical and research program for HCV patients in Washington DC. Dr. Fishbein received her MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine (Bronx, NY), and did her IM residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center (NY) and ID Fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
