Chief of Police Canon City Police Department, Colorado, United States
Chiefs have one of the toughest jobs in this country. Hate, violence, protests, COVID-19-related issues, and increased demands from the community have changed the policing profession. More than ever chiefs need a safe space where they can be “raw and real,” take the care taker hat off, and get the help and support they truly need. This session will explore an innovative program developed by a police psychologist and the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police to provide their members with a space where they can receive support and validation, vent in a protected space, obtain psychological consultation and coaching, find a mentor, enhance their networking, learn from other chiefs, and build strong relationships so they no longer feel alone.
