Lt. Colonel Samedin Mehmeti was born in Prishtinë in 1972. He is married and father of six, two boys and four girls. Lt. Colonel Mehmeti holds a Phd in Law. He served in various positions, initially as a patrol officer, a supervisor, in the tactical level, later as a Lieutenant in an operational management level, continuing in the rank of Captain as a Commander of a Police Station and upon promotion as Major he served in the position of Deputy Director of Operation and as a leader of the unit handling the transition of police competencies from UNMIK to Kosovo Police. Mr Mehmeti served as Deputy General Director from September 2019 till January 2021 when he was appointed as the General Director of Kosovo Police.
Besides the experience in Police, Samedin Mehmeti also is experienced in the field of international security. For several years Mr. Mehmeti worked in the United Nations Security Department as well as in the United Nations Mission in Afghanistan. Lt.Colonel Mehmeti attended various programs related to the field of security in general and terrorism in particular. He published and presented various scientific research papers from the field of security.
