Allen Lewis is a nationally known speaker focusing on the utilization of data to justify organizational growth in fire and EMS organizations with a special focus on assisting agencies in combining and consolidating emergency services for the most efficient, effective, and timely delivery of assistance. Mr. Lewis is an EFO graduate, a CPSE credentialed CFO and CEMSO, a designated CEM, a MIFireE, certified IFSAC Fire Officer, Instructor, and Investigator. He is a nationally registered Paramedic and holds a Public Leadership Credential from the Harvard-Kennedy School of Executive Education.
Mr. Lewis has an extensive emergency services background as well as security expertise obtained through mission assignments and leadership roles exercised in developing countries which were often in high-threat and non-permissive environments. Experiences range from the U.S. Ambasadors detail in Iraq and Afghanistan, to medical work aboard a siesmic vessel.
As an Associate Consultant with ESCI, an Adjunct Professor at Columbia Southern University, and a former Fire Chief/Emergency Manager in Minnesota, Mr. Lewis has garnered experience in budget management, capital and strategic planning, innovative staffing solutions, succession planning, and securing grant funding. Professor Lewis has dedicated his career to helping numerous public safety agencies around the world develop leadership capacity. As a Board Director for the Global Gear Initiative, he is responsible for building relationships which facilitate the delivery of firefighter turnout gear, tools, and even fire apparatus. Mr. Lewis has published multiple articles including "Self-licking ice cream cones in the fire service", which address how to deal with leaders who have selfish motives, as published in FireRescue1, and "Utilizing data to justify organizational growth", which highlights a case study from his former department where staffing was doubled by using data, and subsequently published by Firehouse.
