Gregory Cassell, fire chief (ret.), Clark Couny Fire Department (NV)
Prior to his retirement, Gregory Cassell spent nearly 31 years with the Clark County Fire Department, his last five years as the fire chief. Prior to his appointment to the position of fire chief in 2015, he served as a firefighter/paramedic, fire engineer, fire captain, and battalion chief. He has extensive background in USAR and technical rescue operations, training for fire and EMS topics along with a wide range of program development.
Chief Cassell has participated in many different working groups that have collectively brought about change related to how the fire departments in Southern Nevada interact with each other daily. He has lectured nationally on several topics related to command and control, high-rise fire operations, and, most recently, on the benefits of forming relationships with local law enforcement agencies.
Chief Cassell is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), IAFC Western State Fire Chiefs Association and is member of the IAFC Terrorism/Homeland Security Committee. Along with completing the IAFC’s Fire Service Executive Development Institute (FSEDI) he has two associate degrees from the College of Southern Nevada and two bachelor’s degrees from Colorado State University.
