Amidst a government scandal and organizational crisis in 2013, Scott lost 4 colleagues, including a childhood friend in an air ambulance helicopter crash. Organizational culture was instrumental leading to the poor outcome, Scott was determined to understand the factors and dynamics behind such a tragedy and how to build a safer and higher quality emergency service.
Scott has over 30 years in emergency services in some of the largest services across Canada, beginning his career in the City of Toronto. Scott has worked as a Fire Fighter, Critical Care Flight Paramedic, Educator, Division Chief, Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, and worked with various organizations as a consultant, taking on substantial transformational change. He has an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences in Paramedicine, a Master of Healthcare Quality from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario specializing in Quality & Process Improvement, Systems Safety, Human Factors, Risk, and Law. He is also a Certified Municipal Manager - III through the Ontario Municipal Management Institute, and a Certified Health Executive with the Canadian College of Health Leaders.
Scott's passion is helping to build resilient, sustainable, and psychologically safe high performing organizations that embody a diverse and inclusive organizational culture using Quality as an Organizational Strategy framework.
