Lance Nelson is the Battalion Chief of Community Risk Reduction at West Pierce Fire & Rescue in Washington State. He obtained his Bachelor Degree in 1994 from Pacific Lutheran University and his Executive Masters in Public Administration in 2021 from the University of South Dakota. WPFR provides services to the Cities of Lakewood and University Place and the Town of Steilacoom. We are located next to Interstate 5 and Joint Base Lewis-McChord. Lance has been with WPFR for 15 years where he spent 10 years on the line and the last 5 years in the Prevention Division as a Captain responsible for code enforcement and fire investigations for three of those years and the last two years as the Battalion Chief of CRR. Lance is also finishing his 22nd year in the Air Force Reserves as a Loadmaster on C-17’s. He has been married for 23 years with three children, two in college and one in high school. He coaches high school soccer in his free time.
