CHIEF-202 - No More Talk: An Agency’s Real-World Strategies and Solutions to Achieving the Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity Goals their Community Expects
Wednesday, August 24, 2022
11:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Location: Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, 303 AB
It is one of the proverbial elephants in the room - Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, DEI for short. The difference between being invited to the dance and being asked to dance. And when an agency is failing in any of these areas, the federal government can step and impose a consent decree, mandating change at a level often beyond your control. This program provides agencies with strategies to meet their DEI obligations (legal and otherwise) in a manner designed to maintain public trust and keep the government at bay, or at least, if it comes knocking, limiting its impact to a simple halligan rather than the jaws of life.
Learning Objectives:
The participant will understand how the DEI concept has legal and organizational impacts on a fire agency,
The participant will recognize the problems associated with training and investment that fails to change culture from a DEI viewpoint.
The participant will recognize the growing trends related to DEI lawsuits and federal interventions in the form of consent decrees.
