This session will provide foundational concepts and definitions of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), discuss why diversity in fire and emergency services will build a safer society, and introduce participants to the different types of workplace culture. As a result of this session, leaders will be able to implement the benefits of an inclusive and diverse workforce as a part of their organizational mission. Participants attending this session will understand the foundations of DEI and discuss tools to start building their own inclusive cultures.

Participants will be able to identify the current state faced by members of underrepresented groups in the fire service.
