Brittany received her Bachelors degree in Cognitive Science with a specialization in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Delaware and her Masters degree in School Counseling from Long Island University (LIU). She worked in guidance departments of various schools across Long Island, helping teens and their families navigate the college process and the physical, social and emotional challenges they faced daily. Through these experiences, she realized that the mental wellness of each student and their family members impacted their daily functioning and academic success. Brittany went on to earn her license in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Brittany’s bubbly personality, understanding of the school setting, and experiences dealing with mental health disorders helped her succeed as the Education and Prevention Specialist at The Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (LICADD). She traveled to diverse communities and school districts throughout Long Island offering psychoeducation and referrals for treatment to young people struggling with substance use and mental health disorders. Brittany relocated to New York City where she began working in an intensive outpatient setting serving adults with substance use disorders. Brittany’s experience in varied educational and therapeutic settings strengthened her knowledge of evidenced-based treatment models. Brittany uses her creativity in everything she does, personally and professionally. She enjoys thinking outside the box to help each Dorm client on their unique journey towards independence, self-discovery and overall mental wellness. Brittany strives to be relatable, encouraging, and supportive.
