As the therapeutic relationship has been shown to be the most significant factor in client outcomes, it is essential for therapists to have an evidenced-based foundation for developing and maintaining trust, collaboration, and agreement on goals to optimize therapeutic outcomes. Adolescents and young adults are similar to adults, but often require relational and boundary stability to develop attachment security which is associated with increases in self-worth formation, regulatory ability, and resilience. This presentation will examine current research, therapeutic principles and techniques, and the significant role attachment security plays in treating adolescents and young adults.
