John Cockrell, M Ed, NRP, FP-C, is full-time faculty in the Health Sciences Division at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa where he serves as the EMS Education Program Director, and is a critical care paramedic for Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His 21 years as a paramedic include 7 years as a career firefighter, 16 years as a critical care flight paramedic, 15 years as a volunteer firefighter, and 13 years teaching EMS courses. John holds a Master's Degree in Adult Education and Training from Colorado State University, and has trained numerous EMS providers of all levels, including critical care. He developed a successful, nationally accredited EMS degree and paramedic education program in Iowa from the ground up, and led another parmaedic program through accredidation.
