Prof. Alex Henzen has more than 35 years of R&D experience in leading fields of display technology, and is currently professor at South China Normal University in Guangzhou, China. Prior to this position he was active as VP for Clearink Displays, responsible for display architecture and manufacturing preparation. Earlier activities were co-founder and vice president of iRex Technologies, later IRX Innovations, since 2005 with responsibility for process development and innovation. He was responsible for design and production of iRex’ e-paper displays as well as running multiple innovation projects, internal as well as with partners and suppliers. With iRex he successfully developed 3 e-reader platforms, as well as display controller hardware and architectures. Prior to founding iRex Technologies, Henzen held process and program management positions at Philips Mobile Display Systems.
Henzen achieved his MSc in Chemistry from Leiden University, The Netherlands, in 1985 and currently lectures electrophoretic display driving principles at South China Normal University, Guangzhou. He has been a long term member of IEC TC110 standardization committee, and received the IEC 1906 award in 2004. He also received the SID special recognition award in 2007, and the SPIE green photonics award in 2011.
