Rebecca Earle is a Registered Nurse with over 19 years of experience in child health across acute, ambulatory and community settings. She provides operational leadership for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at IWK Health where she has been instrumental in advancing a culture of safety and quality improvement. She is also chair of the IWK Nursing Council where she empowers nurses to come together under the philosophy of shared governance in pursuit of advancing clinical practice and empowering teams to make decisions that lead to improvements in patient care, clinical outcomes and staff satisfaction.
Rebecca is the President of the Canadian Association of Paediatric Nurses (CAPN). CAPN is a national network of nurses from diverse settings that are passionate about children’s health and the nursing specialty of paediatrics. CAPN champions the Canadian Paediatric Nursing Standards and was instrumental in the creation of the first ever Canadian Pediatric Nursing Certification Exam in collaboration with the Canadian Nurses Association.The mission of CAPN is to protect and promote the health and well-being of Canadian children, locally and nationally, by advancing the professional specialty of paediatric nursing, through education, learning, and advocacy. CAPN is proud to have partnered with Children's Healthcare Canada and the Canadian Pediatric Society on the recent "Call to Action for Canada's Kids" (November 2022)
Rebecca received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Acadia University and a Master of Nursing from McGill University. She also holds a Canadian Nurses Association certification in Paediatric Nursing. When she is not wearing her nursing leadership hat, you can find her in a hockey rink cheering on one of her three boys!
