Isidro Cortés-Ciriano is Research Group Leader at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI). Isidro completed his PhD at the Pasteur Institute in 2015, and completed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School under the supervision of Prof. Peter Park, and at the University of Cambridge under the supervision of Prof. Andreas Bender.
The Cortes-Ciriano group at EMBL-EBI develops computational tools to characterize the patterns of mutations and genome instability processes in human cancers through the analysis of genome sequencing data from clinical samples and preclinical models. A major research area in the group is the analysis of cancer genomes and transcriptomes using long-read sequencing technologies. We are particularly interested in the reconstruction of complex genome rearrangements at single-haplotype resolution, and the characterization of the full isoform repertoire and gene fusion landscape through full-length transcriptome sequencing data analysis of sarcomas.
