Dr. Heidi Ginter is the Regional Chief Medical Officer for Recovery Centers of America in MA overseeing inpatient detoxication, short-term residential, and outpatient substance use disorder treatment. She is board-certified in both Family Medicine and Addiction Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree from Yale University and obtained her medical degree in her hometown at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. In her first job after completing Family Medicine residency at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester, MA, she worked at the Edward M. Kennedy Community Health Center where she practiced the full spectrum of family medicine including obstetrics. As part of that work, she provided care to incarcerated pregnant patients and found a true passion for relieving suffering from substance use disorders. She developed expertise in managing medications for addiction treatment (MAT) and co-occurring mental illness with a compassionate, evidence-based, trauma-informed approach. Prior to her current role, she was the Chief Medical Officer of a company proving methadone and buprenorphine maintenance at opioid treatment programs (OTPs) in MA, ME, NH and CT.
