Resident Physician
Shane M. Kronstedt, MD is a Urology Resident at Baylor College of Medicine with a background that spans elite military service, academic leadership, and translational research. Prior to entering medicine, he served for over a decade as a Navy SEAL and Special Operations Combat Medic, deploying to multiple combat zones and leading multinational medical training initiatives in trauma care and field surgery.
Dr. Kronstedt earned his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors and held numerous leadership roles. His academic interests lie at the intersection of surgical innovation, trauma-informed urologic care, and veteran health outcomes.
He has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters on topics ranging from genitourinary trauma and oncologic outcomes to reconstructive techniques and health disparities. His current research focuses on optimizing clinical pathways for complex urologic trauma and exploring outcomes in vulnerable and veteran populations. He contributes regularly to academic peer review and serves on the editorial board of a specialty medical journal.
Dr. Kronstedt is also actively involved in national research collaborations and multi-institutional studies aimed at advancing evidence-based practices in urology. He brings a unique translational lens to his work, integrating his experience in battlefield medicine with current surgical practice and health systems research.
His academic trajectory is defined by a commitment to rigorous inquiry, clinical excellence, and service to underserved communities. He is a research advisor and mentor for veterans transitioning into healthcare and remains engaged in efforts to improve health outcomes related to military exposures.
