Eugene Y. Rhee, MD, MBA is the National Chair of Urology for Kaiser Permanente, Chief of Urology for Kaiser Permanente Southern California, and Area Assistant Medical Director for Business Line & Finance for Kaiser Permanente San Diego. He earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles. He holds dual bachelor’s degrees in biology and political science from Emory University and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
Dr. Rhee is a specialist in incontinence, urologic reconstruction, sexual medicine, and minimally invasive treatments for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). As National Chair of Urology for the Permanente Federation, he oversees the delivery of urologic care to 12 million lives within the United States' largest nonprofit managed healthcare system. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Rhee holds device patents in the field of urology, reflecting his commitment to advancing the science of care through innovation and technology.
Dr. Rhee has served as President of the Western Section AUA, President of the California Urological Association, President of the San Diego Urologic Society, and represented the Western Section on the American Association of Clinical Urologists (AACU) Board of Directors. A distinguished AUA Gallagher Health Policy Scholar and graduate of the AUA Leadership Program, Dr. Rhee served as Chair of the AUA Public Policy Council and the inaugural Section Editor for Urology Practice, focusing on health policy. A champion of virtual care innovations, he was a member of the AUA Telemedicine Task Force and served on several AUA committees, including Legislative Affairs, State Advocacy, Workforce Planning, and Electronic Health Records. He joins the AUA Board of Directors as its 2025-2026 President-elect.
