Chief Emeritus of Urology/Professor of Surgery/Urology

Dr. Kim retired from Denver Health Medical Center as the Chief Emeritus of Urology and Professor of Surgery at the University of CO, and President of the SCS of the American Urological Association. He is the Associate Editor of the Journal of Urology Plus Open Access, AUA News in Portuguese, and Patient Safety in Surgery.
Dr. Kim earned his medical degree from the University of São Paulo School of Medicine in 1989, followed by a Trauma Fellowship at UCO. He finished his General Surgery and Urology residency at Loyola Medical School, then an Endourology/ Laparoscopy Fellowship at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and an MBA in Healthcare from the UCO School of Business.
He is an alumnus of the American Urological Association Leadership Program (2006), an honorary member of the Sociedade Brasileira de Urologia, Host Country Liaison of AUA (2006 - 2023) culminating with the AUA Presidential Citation for his international relations and contributions to Minimally Invasive Robotic Urological Surgery.
Recipient of numerous awards, including the Presidential Juscelino Kubitschek Medal from the SBU, the Ernest E. Moore Trauma Award, and the Societá Italiana di Urologia International Guest Recognition during their centenary anniversary.
Recipient of research grants from the annual John Elway's Hot Rocks Challenge (2011-2021), Nene Hilario (NBA), and the Nobel Laureate Dr. John Hall, Dr. Kim published > 200 scientific publications. He also created a basic science/ translational research laboratory.
Dr. Kim served as the site residency director (200-2023), and mentored > 12 international fellows who are international leaders.
He is now embarking on a new chapter as the Urologist at AdventHealth Riverview Tampa, a non-profit health system that aligns with Dr. Kim's beliefs and life mission. In this role, he will continue serving the community, including underserved patient populations, while also contributing to medical education and training.
