Rebecca Lipson taught science, math, and special education for 8 years in Tucson’s public schools. She was Assistant Director for Education from 2013 – 2021 for UA Sky School, a K-12 science outreach program housed in the Department of Astronomy at the University of Arizona. Programs were centered around outdoor, place-based, and student-led scientific inquiry. Rebecca joined TIMESTEP as the program coordinator in March of 2021. TIMESTEP offers comprehensive support for physics and astronomy undergraduate students at the University of Arizona, including personal and professional development, a summer internship program, and a research apprenticeship program. Rebecca's work focuses on providing young scientists with field experiences, research opportunities, internships, mentoring, and personal and professional development, with the goal of breaking down barriers to success in STEM disciplines for those who have been historically excluded.
