Assessment: working with front line staff identified clear gap in preparation and room set up. conducted time studies to identify delays. worked with staff to create tests of change, identify gaps in set up. • Implementation: Create worksheet to track first implementation of having case cart and equipment in room. Second test of change was creating a room set up guide. • Outcome: Improvement of on time starts will be determined after Nov 1, 2021. • Implications for perioperative nursing: Improving on time starts not only improves efficiently, but satisfaction for staff, physicians and patients. The other implications for nursing is helping reduce unnecessary overtime, and save facility money as OR time is charged per minute.
