For 60 years, the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) has been leading research and training to understand human development, improve reproductive health, enhance the lives of children and teens, and optimize abilities for all. NICHD conducts, funds, and coordinates maternal and child health research and activities across NIH and with other agencies and organizations, including Safe to SleepĀ®, to educate about ways to reduce infant deaths; and PregSourceĀ®: Crowdsourcing to Understand Pregnancy, an online research project to learn about pregnancy directly from pregnant women. The institute also co-leads the NIH Maternal Health Coordinating Committee and efforts to understand how COVID-19 affects children, individuals with disabilities, and pregnant and lactating people. Visit us to learn about these and other maternal and child health research and activities.
