Kimberley Wade is a Professor of Psychology at the University of Warwick (United Kingdom), Co-Director of Warwick University’s Centre for Operational Police Research (COPR), and the Executive Director of the international Society for Applied Research in Memory and Cognition (SARMAC). Kim is a cognitive psychologist specializing in autobiographical and episodic memory. Her research examines the impact of social, cognitive, and environmental factors on autobiographical memory distortions and the implications for policymakers and practitioners working in legal and clinical contexts. In 2016, the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR appointed Kim as a scientific advisor. In this role she conducted an independent study exploring the vulnerability of witness memory in commercial disputes. This work is described in the Commission’s final report, titled The Accuracy of Fact Witness Memory in International Arbitration (2020). Current research projects in Kim’s lab are exploring the relationship between witness memory and confidence, credibility assessments in refugee status determinations, and the effects of psychopathology (e.g., PTSD, depression) on witness memory. Kim teaches courses on human memory and the application of psychological research to criminal justice. She served as an Associate Editor at the journal Legal and Criminological Psychology for 8 years and currently sits on four editorial boards. Kim’s research is published in many high-impact journals, and appears frequently in the media, in undergraduate texts, and in books for the educated layperson. She is a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science.
