AIUM 2022 Abstract Submission

The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) invites all members and nonmembers to submit abstracts for the AIUM 2022 Annual Meeting. The meeting will be held March 12–16, 2022, in San Diego, CA. The AIUM accepts abstracts that have been previously presented or published.

The deadline for submission of abstracts is Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at 11:59 am Eastern Time. Once you begin an abstract submission, you will be able to save your work and return to complete it until the submission deadline; we encourage all submitters to begin the process early! You must hit the Submit button on the top right to officially submit your abstract. If you do not receive a confirmation of submission, you should log in and hit Submit.

In accordance with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education’s (ACCME's) Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education, all presenters and coauthors must disclose any financial relationship(s) with ineligible companies held within the past 24 months. The AIUM implements a mechanism to identify and mitigate all conflicts of interest prior to delivering the educational activity to learners. The AIUM will only review abstracts with completed conflict of interest disclosures from ALL presenters and coauthors.

Please note that the AIUM does not permit employees or owners of ineligible companies—those whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling, or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients—to deliver CME content. Abstracts with said conflicts will not be considered.

There are 4 formats for abstract submission:

Oral (Including New Investigators)
Presentations in the Basic Science category will be 12 minutes (10-minute presentation, 2-minute Q&A). Presentations in any other category will be 7 minutes (5-minute presentation, 2-minute Q&A). Some presenters will qualify to enter the New Investigator award competition, which encourages New Investigators to become active within the AIUM and ultrasound research. There is a monetary award associated with the New Investigator award (up to $250).

Electronic Poster
E-posters are not presented orally and will need to be uploaded on a presentation computer before the meeting.

Oral then Electronic Poster (Includes New Investigators for Oral Only)
Submit your abstract to be first considered as an oral presentation and if not accepted, it will automatically become an E-poster.

Case Report
Case reports will be considered for presentations totaling 7 minutes (5-minute presentation, 2-minute Q&A). If the case report is not selected for oral presentation, it will automatically be included as an electronic poster.

IMPORTANT! You will be notified about the status of your abstract in late December. Presenting authors whose abstract is accepted for an oral presentation must register for the entire AIUM 2022 Annual Meeting by January 24, 2022, pay the appropriate registration fee, and present the abstract at the assigned date and time. At least one of the authors of an E-poster must register as an attendee for the entire AIUM 2022 Annual Meeting by January 24, 2022, for the abstract to be included in the program.

All accepted abstracts will appear as part of the Official Proceedings, a supplement of the Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine.
