Creating a career ladder is at the forefront of preparing for the future of the radiology profession. Our profession utilizes cutting-edge technology, has exponential growth, and potential science-based technologies will rewrite radiology. However, career progression for technologist and leaders in the field have not kept pace with this growth or the potential. Radiological technologists lag behind other healthcare professionals in terms of educational requirements, career trajectory, and professional prestige. This session will discuss how we can use career ladders to move the radiologic technology field forward into a career that has professional status, and a profession that is highly respected among its peers. We will delve into some of the challenges associated with building a career ladder, and the rewards that await once we move into the realm of a higher level of professionalism.
