Patient satisfaction scores effect not only reimbursement but also other important aspects of health care, including compliance rates, referrals, and community reputation. This lecture will discuss how the implementation of special skills can improve scores by increasing patient satisfaction. The Positive Patient Experience consists of 3 main components: Competency, Communication and Comfort. When these 3 elements are combined, the patient will experience a level of caring that we all strive for. You will learn to engage your staff with proven methods to create a more positive patient experience. We will discuss ways that you can improve a display of competency to your patients. Specific examples of effective (and ineffective) communication skills will be presented. Recommendations on simple and low cost ideas to increase patient comfort will be listed. The Positive Patient Experience will create pride within your department which will positively impact the level of patient care you are providing.
