Director of QI Registries American College of Radiology Ashburn, VA
Most healthcare administrators are very familiar with the ‘Magnet’ status, which indicates the highest credential for nursing facilities in United States. How many of you know about the Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence (DICOE) designation offered by ACR?
The ACR DICOE designation is a one-of-a-kind program that takes your department or practice to the next level of imaging efficiency, safety, and quality care. Many government and insurance entities reimburse patient care based on health outcomes and patient experience, rather than the procedures undertaken. The DICOE designation can be achieved by any size hospital or imaging center with accreditation through ACR for advance imaging modalities.
In this session, you will learn key principles to adopt and implement, as well as tools to maintain quality of care. To earn and maintain the DICOE designation, facilities are required to participate in the Dose Index Registry (for CT and fluoroscopy) and staff engagement in in their quality improvement program is encouraged. Facilities participating in the General Radiology Improvement Database (GRID) primarily gather process measures and outcome measure data.
In diagnostic medical imaging, the radiation safety process measure is considered a key performance indicator (KPI). The session will provide an overview of the required quality program registries and describe various program requirements of Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence designation
